Pier Giorgio’s Feast

July 4, 2009

My article “A Feast on the Fourth of July” appeared last year at Catholic Exchange.  It not only summarizes this great young man’s life, but also suggests the three essential element’s of his spirituality.

There’s a novena to Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati in Saints for Our Times.

A Feast on the Fourth: Pier Giorgio Frassati

July 5, 2008 posted a new article of mine today (which, besides being Independence Day, is also the Feast of Blessed Pier Giorgio Prassati). It’s my seventh with them.

We had a good day around here. The kids had friends over. Toni and I cleaned the garage out. We all relaxed, played, grilled for supper, etc.

On the Air Again

June 12, 2008

I’m going to be a guest again on Cincinnati’s Catholic radio station, Sacred Heart Radio, on their live morning show called Son Rise. I’m on tomorrow at 8:15 am.

The topic this time is Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. The occasion is the fact that his remains are being transferred from Italy to Australia this month, to be present at next month’s World Youth Day celebration in Sydney.

Frassati — who lived a remarkable life in his teens and early twenties of service to the poor, nourished by a blazing love of the Eucharist, then died of polio at age 24 — has emerged as a popular patron of young people in recent years.

The radio station asked me to talk about him because he’s featured in my book, Saints for Our Times.
