Today’s Guest Blogger: Mary DeTurris Poust

I got to know Mary DeTurris Poust‘s work back in the early 1990’s.  I was a big fan of Cardinal John O’Connor, and he had a regular column in the Archdiocese of New York’s then-weekly newspaper, Catholic New York, so I subscribed.  It was a very high quality newspaper, which says a lot about Mary, because she was its managing editor.  Her articles in that paper were ever-present in those days, and they were always very well done.

Since then, Mary has also served as a contributing editor of Our Sunday Visitor.  She has published two books, Parenting a Grieving Child: Helping Children Find Faith, Hope, and Healing after the Death of a Loved One (Loyola Press, 2002), and her brand new one, The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the Catholic Catechism (Penguin/Alpha, 2008), which we’re giving away today.

Mary blogs regularly at Not Strictly Spiritual.

Below is her post for today.
