November 18 book giveaway: “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the Catholic Catechism”

If you have spent ten seconds in any bookstore in the past decade, you’re at least a little familiar with the Complete Idiot’s Guide series.  It’s a very popular series that covers every topic under the sun.

The fact that it’s not a Catholic, or even strictly religious, series at all means they could have ended up with just about any yahoo writing a book about Catholicism.  So Catholics and those who have an interest in getting the Gospel out into the culture should be very pleased with the fact that it’s Mary who wrote The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the Catholic Catechism

It is faithful to the Church’s teaching, and presents it in a very readable, interesting, and engaging style (which is exactly what the CIG books are supposed to be about).  I suspect that with the publication of this book (it’s brand new, by the way), there will be more than a few people reading about the Church’s faith who would never think of picking up an actual Catechism.  Kudos, Mary!

Mary’s hot-off-the-presses book is Tuesday’s giveaway.  Want a signed copy?  If so, leave a comment in the comment box of this post.  The winner will be chosen at random from among those who do.

Considering that the Catechism of the Catholic Church has over 800 pages it looks as if they were able to condense it to the size of the Compendium…
